Download MATLAB for Windows PC from FileHorse. 100% Safe and Secure Free Download (32-bit/64-bit) Latest Version 2020. Click Install MATLAB to download the Installer. Select your operating systems (Windows, macOS, or Linux) and the installer package will begin downloading. Click to open the installer package and begin installation. In order to install Matlab on a personal computer, a Mathworks accounts must be set up.
You may be notified by Matlab that your license will expired after a certain number of days. This message is referring to the university wide license that is updated once per year. When the university wide license is updated, you may need to run an installer to make sure the updated license is applied to your installation. For instructions on applying license updates, please contact the helpdesk at [email protected] or 972-883-2911.
Network licenses should be used for fixed-location networked on-campus computers as is current practice, such as for computer labs. This allows the license to be centrally managed.
Download and Install Matlab

- Log in using your NetID and password here
- Create a MathWorks Account or log in with a pre-existing account
- Go to Mathworks downloads
- Click the download button for the current release
- Clink the installer for your system type
- Locate the installer you downloaded and run the installer.
- In the MathWorks installer, select Log in with a MathWorks Account and follow the online instructions
- When prompted to do so, select the license you want to use
- Select the products you want to download and install
- After downloading and installing your products, keep the Activate MATLAB checkbox selected and click Next
- When asked to provide a user name, verify that the displayed user name is correct. Continue with the process until activation is complete
Step 1
- Download and install Xming and Xming Fonts.
- Run Xming to start the PC X Server. The 'X' icon should be visible on the Windows Taskbar
Step 2
- Connect to the VPN if not on a campus computer or connected to Cometnet
- Download and run Putty
- Under Session, enter the hostname you want to connect to: giant.utdallas.edu on port 22. Make sure the connection type is ssh.
Step 3
- Scroll to Connection > SSH > X11. Check the box next to 'Enable X11 Forwarding'. By default 'X Display location' enter localhost:0. The remote authentication should be set to MIT-Magic-Cookie-1
- Click Open to bring up the terminal
Step 4
- Log in with your NetID and password (Password will be in silent keystrokes, no text will appear in Terminal)
- Type matlab & and press Enter

- Download XQuartz
- Open XQuartz to start the PC X Server
Step 2
- Connect to the VPN if not on a campus computer or connected to Cometnet
- Open Terminal and type ssh -X [email protected]
- Press Enter
Step 3
- Enter your password (Will be in silent keystrokes, no text will appear in Terminal)
- Type matlab &and press Enter
